Some opportunities for sustainable development in Korça Region

Abstract

Today all over the world, as well as in Albania, we hear more and more about economic de-

velopment in developing countries. A successful branch of the economy of these countries is

tourism. Based on socio-geographic studies, Albania in general and the region of Korça, in

particular, should have an orientation study to promote this branch of economy. I refer to the

case of a successful banker from Bangladesh, Muhammad Yunus, who won the Nobel Prize

in 2006, due to the development of his thesis for microcredit. We must understand the impor-

tance of studying sociology of tourism in Korça region as one of the priority for the economic

development in the region and beyond.

There are few studies on the development of tourism in the region of Korça, but these studies

do not capture the socio-geographic and social analysis of the study of the region in particular,

they only show the instruments that should be used in such studies. There are no accurate

statistics on social coloring of the population, places of worship, museums, ethnography, ar-

cheology, gastronomy, customs, traditions, sports, climate of the Korça region.

Introduction

Today all over the world, as well as in Albania, we hear more and more about economic

development in developing countries. A successful branch of the economy of these

countries is tourism. The importance of study of the sociology tourism in Korça region

is one of the priorities for the economic development in the region and beyond. There

should be a strategy in this sector of the economy to show how the study instruments

and tourist areas work, transforming them into powerful economic areas of the

region and the national economy. There are no accurate statistics on social coloring of

the population, places of worship, museums, ethnography, archeology, gastronomy,

customs, traditions, sports, climate, in the Korça region. Research has shown that

thereisntauniversaleectivemethodforallareasregionsThebestprogramsand

successful regions are those that combine multiple practices in accordance with the

characteristics of the area, culture, tradition and climate conditions.
