Fundamental Rights in the EU

MEPs will discuss the situation of fundamental rights in the EU with NGO representatives. This exchange of views takes place while a initiative report is being drafted by Giusto Catania (GUE/NGL, IT), and will cover four themes: institutional protection, immigration, discrimination and freedom of expression, and social and Children's rights. Panellists include speakers from Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Migreurop and Reporters without borders.

Ministerial Conference "Internet of the Future"

The European Ministers for the Digital Economy have been invited by Eric Besson, the French Minister of State for the Development of the Digital Economy, to take part in the first European ministerial meeting on the issues surrounding the Internet of the Future in Nice on 6 October 2008.
