Dear EMR reader,
As a truly global general management journal we are
pleased to open this colle ction of 21 papers with a distinct
Special Issue on a highlytopical matter of global concern:
the state of humanand social rights and of diversity policy
and practice at times of austerity and economic
contraction. The six papers that follow the introductory
piece by Special Issue guest editors Joana Vassilopoulou,
Olivia Kyriakidou, Jose Pascal da Rocha, Andri
Georgiadou and Michalle Mor Barak, provide a state-of-
the-art take on these critical issues during and in the
aftermath of the 2007 financial crisis that gripped the
world.
We follow suit with five papers on related concerns:
two papers on diversity matters and three on corporate
social responsibility. The rest of the papers in this issue
cover a variety of topics from entrepreneurial self-image
and firms’trust recovery options, to SMEs foreign
business development strategies, firms’deviation from
optimal financial leverage impact on mergers and
acquisitions, organisational ambidexterity in the financial
services and consumer innovation in the music industry;
with the geographicalfoci throughout Europe (of course),
North America, the Middle East and China.
Last but not least it gives me greatpleasure to highlight
the role of reviewers of papers submitted to the EMR –
new submissions as well as revised manuscripts, over
the past year (2018), whose names are listed at the end
of this issue. Their skill, dedication and collegial
responsibility ensure the viability and success of this
journal. I thank you all wholeheartedly.
