DECISIÓN DE LA COMISIÓN de 24 de julio de 2000 por la que se establece un sistema obligatorio de etiquetado de la carne de vacuno en Dinamarca [notificada con el número C(2000) 2157] (El texto en lengua danesa es el único auténtico) (2000/490/CE) LA COMISIÓN DE LAS COMUNIDADES EUROPEAS,
Visto el Tratado constitutivo de la Comunidad Europea,
Visto el Reglamento (CE) no 820/97 del Consejo, de 21 de abril de 1997, por el que se establece un sistema de identificación y registro de los animales de la especie bovina y relativo al etiquetado de la carne de vacuno y de los productos a base de carne de vacuno (1 ) y, en particular, el apartado 5 de su artículo 19,
Vista la solicitud presentada por Dinamarca,
Considerando lo siguiente:
(1) En el apartado 4 del artículo 19 del Reglamento (CE) no 829/97 se establece que los Estados miembros impongan un sistema de etiquetado obligatorio para la carne de vacuno procedente de animales nacidos, criados y sacrificados en su territorio, siempre que el sistema de identificación y registro de los animales de la especie bovina esté suficientemente desarrollado.
(2) En el apartado 1 del artículo 1 del Reglamento (CE) no 2772/1999 del Consejo, de 21 de diciembre de 1999, por el que se aprueban las normas generales de un sistema obligatorio de etiquetado de la carne de vacuno (2), se contempla la prolongación de esta posibilidad hasta después del 1 de enero de 2000.
(3) La Decisión 1999/376/CE de la Comisión (3 ) reconoce el carácter totalmente operativo de la base de datos danesa correspondiente a los animales de la especie bovina.
(4) Dinamarca ha solicitado a la Comisión que apruebe un sistema de etiquetado obligatorio para la carne de vacuno de conformidad con el apartado 5 del artículo 19 del Reglamento (CE) no 820/97 y el apartado 1 del artículo 1 del Reglamento (CE) no 2772/1999.
(5) Está previsto que el 1 de enero de 2002 entre en vigor un sistema de etiquetado obligatorio comunitario para la carne de vacuno según el cual se deberá indicar detalladamente el origen de la misma. Por ello, debe limitarse el...
