Respuesta común a las preguntas escritas P-0303/01 y P-0355/01 dada por la Sra. Diamantopoulou en nombre de la Comisión (26 de marzo de 2001) Con arreglo a lo establecido en el sexto considerando del Reglamento (CEE) no 2082/93 del Consejo de 20 de julio de 1993 que modifica el Reglamento (CEE) no 4253/88 por el que se aprueban disposiciones de aplicación del Reglamento (CEE) no 2052/88, en lo relativo, por una parte, a la coordinación de las intervenciones de los Fondos Estructurales y, por otra, de éstas con las del Banco Europeo de Inversiones y con las de los demás instrumentos financieros existentes (1 ) y en el apartado 3 del artículo 8 del Reglamento (CE) no 1260/1999 del Consejo, de 21 de junio de 1999, por el que se establecen disposiciones generales sobre los Fondos Estructurales (2 ) para el período de programación 2000-2006, la puesta en práctica de las intervenciones es responsabilidad de los Estados miembros.
Así pues, la Comisión, que no se encarga de la gestión directa de los Fondos, pidió a la autoridad española responsable de la puesta en práctica del Fondo Social Europeo, mediante una nota con fecha de 1 de febrero de 2001, que efectuara las verificaciones necesarias en relación con las informaciones aparecidas en las ediciones de los días 29, 30 y 31 de enero en el periódico 'El País'.
El Ministerio de Trabajo español comunicó a la Comisión, mediante un fax con fecha de 1 de febrero de 2001, que sus servicios habían solicitado el 31 de enero de 2001 al Instituto Municipal de Empleo de Madrid información relativa a la posible cofinanciación por el Fondo Social Europeo de los cursos de formación mencionados en la prensa.
A partir del momento en que el Ministerio de Trabajo transmita de manera oficial sus conclusiones a la Comisión, y en caso de que se observara que se han utilizado irregularmente las ayudas del Fondo Social Europeo, el Estado miembro y la Comisión efectuarán las correcciones financieras pertinentes según los procedimientos previstos...
