3.1. Statistical unit
The statistical unit for indicator 3 is the number
of men perpetrators. A perpetrator is dened
as a ‘person brought into formal contact with
the police and suspected/arrested or cautioned
for a criminal oence of intimate par tner vio-
lence’ (41).
3.2. Type of oence
The oence covered by indicator 3 is intimate
partner violence, dened as any act of physical,
sexual, ps ychological or economic violence that
occurs between former or current spouses or
partners, whether or not the perpetrator shares
or has shared the same residence with the vic-
tim’ (42).
